Tamed for the kart track
Linde Material Handling presents new Linde E2 electric kart at SPS IPC Drives
Under its hood, the E2 electric kart from Linde Material Handling features the same drive components that helped the Linde E1 to set up a new world record. In contrast to E1, the new model has been designed to meet the need for rental on kart tracks. The vehicle was developed in collaboration with RiMO Transportgeräte; the drive system originates from the series-production for Linde electric forklift trucks.
The new E2 kart reaches top speeds of 85 kilometres per hour, not quite as fast as the E1 racing kart. But its acceleration of 5.1 seconds from 0 to 70 kilometres per hour alone can make the hearts of kart fans beat faster. The Linde eco-Kit S delivers a maximum power of 16 kW and the kart can run up to 30 kilometres with one battery charge. The engineers at Linde Material Handling also took over the setup and wiring of the electrical components and took care of software development and tuning of the driving behaviour.
Compact and emission-free – ideal for indoor kart tracks
With RiMO Transportation Equipment GmbH & Co. KG an experienced partner was found for the construction of the kart. This kart builder had already manufactured models according to the exacting demands of Michael Schumacher. Collaboration with RiMO has brought about compact electric karts that can be used on any kart track. These karts are an affordable and practical alternative especially for indoor karting establishments which are subject to strict emission regulations.
Individual driving modes and authentic sounds
A special feature of the new kart is that the operating mode can be individually adapted to driving skills. Usually rental karts are relatively slow. However, higher speeds and accelerations can be made possible for more professional drivers. When aligning the E2 for rental karting, attention was paid also to suitable background noise: For many kart track visitors, the sound of revving engines is an important part of the driving experience. This is eliminated in low-noise electric drives. To make the driving experience perfect nevertheless, a sound module can be installed. Based on the motor speeds, this module produces authentic driving noise.
World record holder inside: The new E2 electric kart from Linde Material Handling is powered by the same forklift truck components that helped the Linde E1 to set up a new world record. However, the E2 is also suitable for less experienced drivers taking to the kart track.
