Versatile duo for light logistics use
Linde Material Handling brings new double stackers onto market
The flexible use of double stackers has made them sought-after additions to the technology in any warehouse. At the LogiMAT trade show, Linde Material Handling (MH) unveiled two new trucks in this market sector for “light” logistics use, such as in supermarkets. The Linde D06 and D08 compact double stackers can lift loads of 600 and 800 kg respectively with the main lift and 1,600 kg and 1,800 kg with the initial lift. With a robust design, they are powerful, offer a high level of safety as well as comfort and usability.

Food industry workers face a wide range of requirements because palletted goods have to be moved inside the warehouse, on the shop floor, over ramps and in truck loading areas. This requires speed, but at the same time safety is the top priority, especially at busy times. That is why the new Linde double stackers have numerous functions that protect the operator from potential hazards. This starts with the design and the long, deeply positioned tiller that makes for a large safety margin between the operator and the truck. The “SafetySpeed” function regulates truck speed according to the position of the tiller, the smaller the angle of the tiller, the lower the speed of the truck. The “SafetyLift” function prevents accidental raising or lowering when the tiller is in the vertical position, because the lifting functions can be activated only when the crawl speed button is pressed. The operator’s feet are protected by the deep-drawn steel chassis and the support rollers inside the truck contours.
Four different brake systems also serve to avoid collisions. For example, the truck brakes automatically when the operator releases the throttle or changes the direction of motion. Furthermore, when driving up a slope, the truck does not roll backwards. In order to avoid sudden halts, braking is delayed until shortly before the truck comes to a standstill. The electromagnetic brake system is activated when the operator moves the tiller to the upper or lower limit position and the limit position resistor eliminates accidental braking. The deflector button on the tiller head prevents it from being crushed between the tiller and the battery cover. In addition, the emergency stop button is accessible from all sides and brings the double stacker to a halt quickly and in a controlled manner when necessary.
The lift motor has sensitive and precise controls. The forks are slowed down before touching the ground thanks to the “Soft Landing” function ensuring that the loaded goods are lowered gently. The operator retains good visibility of the load and fork arms through the lift mast even when the optional load backrest or polycarbonate or wire mesh mast protection is fitted.
All the controls of the Linde D06 and D08 compact double stackers are grouped ergo-nomically in the tiller and can be operated with the thumbs or index fingers of both hands even when the operator is wearing gloves.
Innovative support rollers
In order to meet the wide range of requirements, Linde has fitted the new double stacker with a 1.2 kW, maintenance-free AC motor with a booster effect that automatically applies a higher torque to the engine when the truck is driving out of a pothole, moving pallets or driving up a slope. For improved traction and stability, the truck has a three-point support with two innovative support rollers. These are cushioned softly enough to protect them against spinning and to prevent the wear of the drive wheel. At the same time, hard shock absorbers ensure that the truck does not lose grip of the ground even around bends.
Equipped with a standard lift mast, the double stackers can lift loads of 600 kg or 800 kg respectively to a height of up to 2,024 millimetres with the main lift. Thanks to the new pallet stop, the operator can be sure that the pallet on the reach legs (initial lift) is at the same distance as the pallet on the fork arms (main lift), which facilitates the quick lifting or lowering of two pallets simultaneously and prevents damage by goods lifted incorrectly.
All the controls are grouped ergonomically in the tiller and can be operated with the thumbs or index fingers of both hands even when the operator is wearing gloves. The operator can use the crawl speed button to manoeuvre the truck easily at a maximum speed of 1.5 km/h, even in the tightest spaces, when the tiller is in a vertical position. A digital multifunctional display provides information on the battery charge status, operating hours, maintenance status and potential faults. All major truck components are easily accessible under the engine cover in order to simplify maintenance.
