5-6 tonne diesel truck for explosion zone 2 from Linde

Heavyweights for explosion protection areas

Operating companies who want to move heavy loads in explosion protection areas now have two new Linde diesel truck models with five and six tonnes of load capacity at their disposal.

The Linde H50 EX and H60 EX trucks are based on the current counterparts from large-scale production and have the same performance data and standards in terms of ergonomics, efficiency and long service life. They also fulfil the EC provisions for use in areas where there is a risk of explosion (EN 1755) for zone 2 and the Atex version has been type-tested in line with 94/9/EC by TÜV Rheinland.

Their spectrum of application means that the issue of safety is particularly important, so to this end, the new explosion-protected trucks have a diesel engine that is protected in accordance with EN 1834. The starter motor and alternator are housed in a flameproof enclosure. A heat exchanger to cool the exhaust gases ensures that the exhaust gases and the maximum surface temperatures of 200°C are not exceeded for any components in use at any given time. The engine, cooling water, hydraulic oil, exhaust gases and other components that generate heat are temperature monitored. A high level of safety is also ensured by a flashback arrester in the suction area and a spark arrester at the end of the exhaust gas pipe. A new feature is the water cooling of the exhaust manifold, flange, turbocharger and exhaust hose; in addition, the separate radiator has two electric fans. The electrically conductive tyres and the spark-preventing coating of the fork arms are indispensable for use in atmospheres where there is a risk of explosion.

The generously-designed driver’s cab contains proven and tested electrical components for gas explosion protection. These include the Linde central control lever, that allows all the lift mast functions to be operated quickly and easily, a multifunction display that provides the driver with all the important operating information and the Linde double pedal controller for quick allocating without moving the feet. The Linde lift mast offers drivers excellent visibility.

What’s more, the trucks are fitted with a special front wiper system, which uses a hydraulic drive instead of the electric windscreen wiper. This fulfils the specifications for explosion-protected trucks. Ease of servicing is ensured by the easy-to-open control housing, which makes the components easy to access, and the 80 litre fuel tank that can be filled externally.
