How To Deal With Thinning Hair For Men
January 6, 2015

Men are vulnerable to baldness at any age. It’s not fresh news that baldness can begin anywhere from early teens into adulthood. Over the years there has been no shortage of unrealistic headlines promising an end to baldness. Simultaneously, many cases of men experiencing balding contemplating suicide have even sprung up.

Can’t blame them. For centuries, men have gone bananas over their thinning hair, symbolically associating it with losing youth and virility. The earlier this happens, the more negative the effect on the individual’s self-esteem and social interactions. The fact is, male pattern baldness is hereditary so there is no one to blame. No More Mr. Bald Guy Today, there is a new movement that includes high-profile celebrity men that have pro-actively taken matter into their own hands; choosing to end their baldness via announcing them transparently and openly admitting to it. Bravo! Among the list are Wayne Rooney, James Nesbitt, Dennis Miller, Jason Donovan, to name a few.

These men are examples of many that chose to tackle the problem rather than sit and worry about it. They have had hair transplant procedures to save their mane of glory and to restore their self-image, self-confidence and self-esteem. Balding men have been reported to having symptoms of depression, anger, desperation, insecurity, anti-social and self-denial. So if you’re experiencing thinning hair, be prepared to drop into those zones if you choose to ignore the matter. Truth Of The Matter Once a hair follicle has died, it will never grow back or begin to produce new hairs. However there are many misconceptions about baldness. Some men think that:-

  • If they shave their heads, their hair will grow back thicker.
  • Their hairs grow in cycles so right now their hair follicles are in a resting phase.
  • They’re not balding, they’re just thinning.

There is absolutely no evidence to support all of the above scenarios, nor does it make any sense on a scientific level. Although hair does grow in cycles, men need to realize that if they’re visibly balding, that means they have lost at least half of their hair. This kind of hair loss is not related to the on and off growing cycles of normal healthy hair cells. It is normal to lose some hairs every day but when this amount begins to exceed what is normal, this is definitely hair loss. We need to clarify that balding and thinning are the same process as they are just different stages of progression. Some men experience a thinning of hair in certain areas of the head, whilst others will experience a complete loss of hair overall. So if you’re pinned down as a potential to these troubles, ask yourself – would you rather ignore it until it becomes psychologically disturbing or choose to end it with a hair transplant?
