Stem Cell Therapy is the future of anti-ageing

As we grow older, we experience poor health, grow weaker and have a higher chance of succumbing to illnesses. Will there ever be a way for us to enjoy a better quality of life filled with higher energy levels, improved memory, and simply being able to look younger and more refreshed than we actually are? Well folks, here’s your answer: stem cell therapy is the future for anti-aging and rejuvenation. As Dr. Chin Sze Piaw, our Consultant Physician and Cardiologist at Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre, explained to us, stem cells have the ability to self-replicate and differentiate into specialised cells such as heart, brain, nerve, liver, skin, and bone cells. As a result, research has shown that stem cell therapy has a huge potential for treating diseases and injuries involving these organs. In a nutshell, stem cell therapy is a mix between our own body’s ability to heal naturally, combined with the aid of cutting-edge technology in the medical field which stimulates the growth of these stem cells. Stem cell therapy has been used worldwide for about 50 – 60 years while, in Malaysia, it has been around for 27 years. Dr. Chin further explained that whilst usually stem cell specific therapy is more conventionally used as a medical treatment for degenerative or end-stage diseases, research has shown that stem cell therapy can also aid anti-aging therapies. At Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre, we use Cellavie Active+ 100 that is rich with MSCs (Mesenchymal Stem Cells). Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC) are adult multipotent stem cells that have been shown to differentiate or trans-differentiate into fat, cartilage, bone, skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, neurons, mesangial cells, epithelial cells, and liver cells. A majority of MSC can be found in our bone marrow – which is also known to be a purer, richer, and safer source of MSC. Dr. Chin further added that other adult sources of MSC include umbilical cord blood, peripheral blood and fat, especially abdominal fat.

How does Stem Cell Therapy maintain youthfulness and wellness?

Dr. Chin explained that stem cell therapy helps our body by providing new cells to fix or replace the old, dying or damaged ones. Using stem cells as one of the anti-aging treatments for cosmetic purposes has resulted in improvements such as tighter, smoother skin and brighter eyes, ranging from mild to dramatic differences. Dr. Chin added that stem cell therapy may be the new frontier in anti-aging science as it also helps to boost the immune system, mental alertness, and even your libido.
