13 Bizarre but Popular Plastic Surgery

What is the first thing you think, when the words “plastic surgery” is uttered? For most people, the images conjured would be bigger breast and smaller stomachs. Surprisingly, most people who do decide to go under the knife for cosmetic surgery do more than just breast implants, liposuction and face lifts. Here’s a list of fifteen unusual but popular plastic surgeries you may not have heard of.

1. Six Pack Creation
Liposuction has come a long way, in the past it was used to flatten areas that stuck out. Now with advanced liposuction technique, it is possible to create the six-pack many men desire. To achieve this divine look, the procedure combines liposuction and shrinking of the skin. The procedure is much more involved than traditional liposuction, but the results are obvious.

2. Grin Lift
As we age, the corners of our mouths tend to droop. For an unlucky minority, this makes them look perpetually like the Grinch frowning. The good news is this can be easily fixed with a Grin Lift; the surgeon will remove a small triangle of skin around the corner of the mouth causing it to lift, turning this frown upside down. Now you won’t get pesky questions from people asking why you are upset.

3. Upper Lip Lift
The skin between the nose and upper lip lengthens as we age, making the upper lip seem smaller. Some doctors treat this with injecting the upper lip with fillers which cause it look like it’s been stung by a bee giving you a fuller lip. Changing your lips from a Kirsten Dunst and locking it in like Angelina Jolie.

4. Bra Line Back Lift
We all love bread rolls, but we sure don’t love them on us. Many people often complain about the dreaded “bread back” – unsightly rolls of back fat which make fitting bra uncomfortable. In the past liposuction was the only option to remove the fat, but it left patients with loose skin.
The Bra Line Back Lift is a better procedure suited to back rolls; the fatty areas are removed leaving behind a flatter back with a scar that’s hidden in the bra line. The scar is permanent, but the results are equally permanent.

5. Belly Button Surgery
Are you an innie or an outie? Did you know that it is possible to turn an outie to an innie? Surgeons can make a small incision on the upper surface of the belly button that turns it into a more aesthetically pleasing innie. The procedure creates a permanent scar but it is usually well-tucked away.

6. Chubby Cheek Surgery
Chubby cheeks are cute in kids, but can make adults look overweight. This can be improved with a minor buccal lipectomy surgery, where the surgeon removes a gumball sized chunk of fat through a small incision in your cheeks. This will cause the cheek to hollow and contour inward, improving the “chipmunk cheek” look.

7. Jawline Reduction
Wide jawlines usually occur with the overgrowth of the masseter muscle (used for chewing). In the past, plastic surgeons would shave down this muscle in a bloody surgery. Fortunately, today technology has changed, and plastic surgeons are able to decrease the size of the muscle by injecting Botox. Botox causes the muscles to weaken (atrophy) and within a month patients will notice that their jawline is slimmer. Be warned that the effects only last about 6 months, before the injection needs to be repeated.

8. Gummy Smile Repair
A smile is considered “gummy” when it reveals an excessive amount of gums. Dentist often treat this condition by altering the gum line, plastic surgeons however have devised other techniques. To improve a gummy smile, surgeons cut some of the muscles that elevate the lip and insert a spacer implant to prevent the muscles from reconnecting. That procedure takes less than an hour with minimal downtime.

9. Jawline Reduction/ Advancement
When the jaw is either too big or small, oral surgeons treat this by breaking the jaw in two places and setting it forward or backwards into its new position. *ouch* If you decide to get this type of surgery, it will make a huge difference in your overall look.

10. Eyelash Transplants
Everyone’s heard of hair transplant on top of the head, but did you know you can get hair transplant in other areas, such as your eyelids. Many people find their eyelashes thinning and falling out as they age, a simple eyelash transplant will fix that.

11. Dimple Creation
We can’t all be born with dimples like Miranda Kerr, Ariana Grande or Bruno Mars, but did you know dimpleplasty is a thing (that is dimple creation). It involves a tiny incision on the inside of the mouth and placement of a small suture between the buccinators muscle and the skin of the cheek. This small little adjustment is typically indistinguishable from a real dimple and only appears when smiling.

12. Nipple and Areola Reduction
Some women and even men develop excessively long nippers or wide areolas. This could be due to a number of reasons – heredity, pregnancy, or plain bad luck. Surgeons are able to reduce the nipples by literally cutting off the tip, or by removing some skin from the base of the nipple. This will leave a donut-shaped ring around the areaola and will leave a scar.

13. Plastic Surgery for Private Parts
We’ve saved the best for last, the strangest procedures that are currently trending is plastic surgery of the genitals. These procedures include by not limited to remove excess labial skin, tighten the vaginal canal and even enlarging the G spot to enhance the sexual experience.
